Took me about 2 hrs to finish in the points on all 12 courses.

While there are 12 tracks which I think represent real-life tracks, there's no real Grand Prix in this. You're not actually racing against the other F-1 cars on the track, but rather against the clock. If you complete the single lap within the target time, you'll get points to spend on upgrades to your handling, acceleration, or top speed, and the farther below that target time, the more points you get. Unfortunately, the boost you buy only lasts for the next race. The reason I say there is no real Grand Prix is because if you fail to finish in the "Top 6" and gain points, it's Game Over. You can start with any of the 12 courses and if you finish in the points, it automatically advances to the next course, and if you finish in the points in all 12 courses without fail, it simply continues with the next course and, I'm guessing, never ends. There are also 3 what I'm assuming are difficulty levels, but they're just labeled Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3, and even the manual doesn't say what they do or which is hard or easy, just that you must choose a level before the course. I didn't check every track, but the target times of what I did check were all the same, and I couldn't tell any difference during the race.

It is nice that the course with your position on it is always on-screen. The actual hitboxes of the other cars is a bit larger than their sprites. I also hit signs on the side of the road when I was barely on the red and white curb, while other times I was far enough off the road to visually hit them but didn't.

There is a track editor, but I never really played around with it.

While I guess it might be decent for being a launch title, I can't give it a positive score.
