This was my second playthrough. It took me about 51 hrs, but I was typing up a playthrough topic as I went, which added several hours.

This is about as cookie cutter of a JRPG as you can get. If you've played any amount of JRPGs, you've seen pretty much all of its plot points. There's absolutely nothing about the battle system that's out of the ordinary. About the only thing I can think of that might have made this stand out in 1994 is the anime cutscenes. That being said, I had a lot more fun with it than during my first playthrough probably a decade ago, and I think that's because back then I was probably expecting something more, being a Working Designs release. This playthrough turned into the same type of experience that I had with the first Cosmic Fantasy (not Cosmic Fantasy 2 that Working Designs localized), in that there was nothing special at all about the gameplay, but it was just an enjoyable experience. The only bad things I can say about it are the final equipment is ridiculously priced and you can't save in the final dungeon without using a trick, which takes a long time to get through, meaning if you lose to the end boss, you'll have to slog through the dungeon again, and the encounter rate in it is quite high.
