I did use the cheat that gives you more continues (you normally get 3 continues) and ended up using 7 continues.
This would be a 6/10 if not for the atrocious hit boxes. It's a pretty standard side-scrolling action game with a decent amount of platforming. Charging up the axe's attack strength by not attacking is an interesting twist. The stages aren't all that difficult, as long as you're patient. The bosses give a good challenge when you first encounter them to where, except for maybe the first one, you'll probably take a few tries to figure them all out.
I found myself reading the message "YOU CLEAR 1ST [or whichever stage you just cleared] STAGE" in a Tarzan voice.
Even with my relatively low score, I'd still recommend giving this a try.
