Played on my NES CE, using save states to beat it. I tried the 2nd time through, got to the first boss, and decided it wasn't worth it and quit.

Nothing about this game was enjoyable. Even the music was highly annoying. Hit boxes are awful. It took me a while to realize that you can jump from a crouch, which explained several deaths. Not being able to broad jump cost me a lot of deaths. Needing to come out of a crouch before moving also cost me, as many times I thought I timed the bottom of a ladder and wanted to immediately start moving left or right, but instead got stuck in a crouch. I made it to the last stage before looking up a walkthrough, and found out that my major stumbling block at that point was a glitch where a red devil just appears out of nowhere. The first time I encountered one of the dragons, I jumped into an invisible wall of damage. More glitches with enemies and moving platforms appearing on both sides of the screen. No real good indication that you're doing damage to bosses makes it tough to realize when your weapon isn't doing damage. It's amazing how far he can fall as long as he lands on something, assuming it's a valid platform. Some pits have a lower ledge that you can't land on while on some you can land on the side of the pit. At this point, I'm strongly of the opinion that I won't be beating my cartridge copy.
