I've now beaten this game on SNES, PS1, and DS. This was the first time I got bored with it and it became a chore to plod on through to the end. The lack of the Menu Memory option became annoying. I was able to put it on Auto-Battle for 95% of the battles in the final dungeon.
The worst thing was the boss battles were just boring. Almost all of them took me two tries to win: one to find out what worked and what didn't, and the second employing what ends up being an extremely boring strategy (e.g. only Jump attacks work, so you have everyone defend and Kain jump attack until you win, with a Heal sprinkled in here and there) to defeat the boss.
