This is an ok side scrolling platformer ruined by terrible jumping. It consists of 5 stages, with the first four being able to be played in any order. At the end of each of the first four stages, a boss chases you and you simply have to avoid obstacles and jump over chasms, at the end of which the boss will run into some obstacle and drop the item needed to unlock the 5th stage. You get infinite continues. Thankfully, if you lose to the end boss, you only get sent back to the very short section of the stage before the end boss instead of the very beginning of the stage.
The stages include the standard mix of underwater, volcano, and extremely annoying ice stages. Standard enemies are defeated by jumping on them, kicking blocks to hit them, or mowing them down with the occasional red hot chili pepper. The end boss is the only one you defeat via battle. Once you get the hang of the game, getting only 3 hits before you die really only comes into play against the end boss. There are a ton of healing items scattered throughout the stages to make them all pretty easy. Due to the small screen size of the Game Gear, the standard bosses become much harder than they should be, as the jumps you have to make come up on you pretty quickly.
If not for the, I don't know, sluggish? jumping, this would be a decent little game. Once you get the game down, it takes around an hour to get through -- probably closer to 45 minutes if you can get through it without dying. For what I paid for it, it wasn't a terrible purchase.
