I don't know how many times I've beaten this game, but every year or so I pull it out and play through it (I bought it new when it was current). This time, I had a different reason for playing it as there was a local event that ran a high score challenge for it -- one life on Hard. I ended up with the high score for the event and won a $100 gift card to the store putting on the event.

Unlike many shmups, Android Assault stays pretty easy until late in the game, so I would say this is a great game for someone who is new to the genre -- definitely not a "bullet hell" game. It only takes about 45 min to an hour to run through the entire game -- there are only 7 stages. It still has my favorite video game soundtrack as well as my favorite track -- the final stage (Bayside City) theme. The only thing I can really say bad about the game is the ending -- there pretty much isn't one, which is a bit of a letdown.

I got a 1 CC clear on Normal difficulty.

Since I had my Sega CD hooked up, I decided to go back to one of my favorites. I don't know if I'd ever done a 1 credit run before (I probably have). I pulled it off on my 4th try to simply beat the game. The difficulty doesn't really ramp up until the 6th (out of 7) stage, and a lot of the difficulty with the 6th stage is if you don't have the Chase Cannon to start the stage. The 5th stage boss seems to me to be designed around not using the Chase Cannon, as it's probably the worst weapon to use on it. This is one of the few shooters I've liked enough to beat on the hardest difficulty, but I won't be trying to do that this time, as I just wanted to play through it.
